Home repair program

One of the goals of the TFCU Foundation is to repair homes that belong to veterans and first responders who might have difficulty finding affordable resources for home repairs/accessibility adaptations. We’re ready to roll up our sleeves and do the work to make homes safe and comfortable for Oklahoma veterans and emergency responders.

Success for veterans program

We are proud to partner with local nonprofits that provide mental health, housing, education and employment services to Oklahoma veterans. We’re passionate about supporting initiatives that help veterans adjust to civilian life and make their dreams a reality.

Branch community impact program

We believe it’s crucial to connect veterans and first responders with services that may lie outside their local community. We’re here to connect them with resources, contributing to a successful, fulfilling quality of life.

Meet the Lanier family

In March 2025, The Tinker Federal Credit Union (TFCU) Foundation, Rebuilding Together OKC, and the Home Depot Foundation collaborated to help Verna, the widow of a Vietnam veteran, and her veteran son Michael with necessary home repairs in the Plaza District of Oklahoma City. The home, built in 1905, had multiple holes in the walls and the ceiling due to age, causing extreme heat and cold to seep inside. Without central air and heat, it was becoming too much for this mother and son. Not only was the weather coming in an issue, but the risk of injury from the ceiling falling was a significant concern.

To cover the costs of materials, new blinds, ceiling fans to enhance air circulation, repairs for broken windows, grab bars for the restroom, a concealed floor vent that was allowing cold air to enter, and a new, comfortable sitting chair for Verna, the TFCU Foundation received a grant of $4,200 from the Home Depot Foundation. Over the course of seven weeks, 260 volunteer hours were donated to this home by volunteers and trained contractors from the TFCU Foundation, Rebuilding Together OKC, Home Depot, and Boeing.

Even though the home repair project for this family is completed, the TFCU Foundation still has much work to do to assist Michael in obtaining a copy of his DD214 and applying for VA benefits. It is a long road, but the work here at the Foundation is never done.

The TFCU Foundation and our partners have been able to help dozens of veterans this year, and here is just one story from them. Your investment in the Foundation is the first step. When we discover the needs of our veterans, we want to be able to continue helping. The Foundation’s impact from your donations is significant and changes lives.

Please consider donating to the TFCU Foundation, so we’re ready to help the next veteran to stay in their home safely!
